A Little Bit About Me...
My name is Alexis Stadler, and I am running for the Union County Public Schools Board of Education, At-Large, in the 2026 election.
My career in education began at 19 as a mentor for at-risk youth with a nonprofit focused on increasing graduation rates and post-secondary enrollment in a Title I school. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from CUNY College of Staten Island, I continued on to complete a Master of Science in Education at CUNY Hunter College with a concentration in School Counseling. During graduate school, my work as a college counselor allowed me to support students through applications, scholarships, and financial aid.
Seven years as a school counselor and 504 coordinator laid the foundation for my transition into mental health counseling, eventually earning my Clinical Mental Health Counseling Associate License and joining a private practice. For the past three years, I’ve been providing psychotherapy to teens and adults, meaningful work that still comes second to my favorite role: being mom to my daughters Charlotte (8) and Kinsley (7).
Beyond my professional life, co-leading a local Girl Scout troop has become one of my greatest joys. I also serve as the events manager for the Lancaster Girl Scout Service Unit. Advocacy is another important part of my life; I am engaged in national and state level advocacy where I work alongside families advocating for children with complex medical needs and disabilities. At Waxhaw Elementary, I stay involved as an active PTO member and Den Leader for my daughter’s class. When there’s time to spare, gardening, scrapbooking, writing, and reality TV help me recharge.
Born and raised in Staten Island, New York, I moved to North Carolina in 2016 with my husband, Derek, after being recruited to work at a school in Oxford. Today, our family lives in Waxhaw with our daughters, and our pets: dogs Hope and Winnie, and our cats Willow and Archer.
